Kipro, congratulations on your podium finish at Cadwell Park! How does it feel to secure P3 in the first race of the 2024 season?
Thank you! It feels absolutely fantastic. This podium finish is a testament to the hard work of my team and the dedication we’ve put into this season. Starting the season with a podium is always a great boost, especially after the challenges we faced in qualifying. It’s a great feeling to see our efforts pay off.
Could you walk us through your race strategy for the first race at Cadwell Park?
Sure! Going into the first race, our strategy was to stay consistent, avoid any unnecessary risks, and capitalize on opportunities when they presented themselves. Qualifying didn’t go as well as we hoped, with the penalty pushing us back on the grid, but I was determined to make up ground during the race.
And you certainly did! Can you tell us about the key moments of the race that led to your podium finish?
Absolutely. The race was clean and safe, and I managed to find my rhythm early on. I made some strategic moves to gain positions, and as the race progressed, I found myself in a good position to challenge for the podium. Crossing the finish line in P3 was an incredible feeling, especially knowing it’s our first podium of the season.
It’s great to hear. Now, what about the second race? What were your thoughts going into it?
For the second race, starting grid was determined by the fastest lap time from the first race. I was in position 3 in my class and position 7 overall out of 34 cars. The plan was simple: to win. However, things didn’t go as planned. I made a pass on a class A car in the first left turn, then engaged in a duel with the second car in class B for second place in turn 2. Unfortunately, there was wheel-to-wheel contact and our car spun, forcing us to retire from the race due to the damage.
That sounds challenging. How do you bounce back from setbacks like that?
It’s definitely tough, but setbacks are part of racing. The key is to stay focused, learn from the experience, and come back stronger. We’re already looking ahead to the next event at Brands Hatch Circuit. We’re ready for the challenge and determined to put up a strong performance.
